The mission of the Florida After School Inc. is to provide unified leadership to advocate for the development, enhancement, sustainability, and accessibility of evidenced based high-quality afterschool and summer programs and policies statewide.

Scope of Work:
Seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and energetic individual with experience in STEM, afterschool, youth development, and/or related field to execute responsibilities identified below. The STEM Specialist is responsible for managing and executing the training schedule outlined in the STEM Innovator Workplan. The STEM Specialist reports to the Florida After School Inc. Director. The STEM Specialist must be proficient in technology for communications and project management purposes. This position is grant funded; employment is subject to availability of funds.
This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant work experience. Bilingual preferred. Additional degrees or certifications may substitute for work experience.
Specific Responsibilities include:
- Develop and conduct training sessions that align with youth development priorities for out-of-school time providers.
- Build the capacity of Florida’s Afterschool & Summer Learning programs and initiatives to engage in STEM practices and career pathways.
- Connect programs with STEM partners, resources, curricula, and programming.
- Provide Million Girl Moonshot orientation and workshops for Afterschool & Summer Learning programs staff (virtual and in person) at conferences, events, and meetings.
- Manage a grant funding cycle for afterschool programs including the development of the request for proposal.
- Support the PBS Kids ready to learn initiative across the state.
- Engage Cross-Sector Partners including STEM to collaborate with STEM hubs and STEM employers
- Travel throughout the state to accomplish duties as assigned.
